ACTAA is a professional non-profit organization that serves the students and teachers of Oral Communication, Debate, Forensic Activities, Theatre, and Dance in Arkansas! 

Its purpose shall be to establish oral communication, debate, dance, and theatre art standards and to encourage communication/theatre art education and scholarship on the elementary, secondary, and college and university levels.


Mission Statement


The Arkansas Communication and Theatre Arts Association is a community of professionals devoted to the rigorous study and ethical practice of oral communication, debate, dance, and theatre arts as an essential discipline, life skill, and art form as components of the core curriculum. Through continuing teacher education, student participation, and scholarly publication the association supports the efforts and continued growth of communication and theatre arts teachers, students, and researchers.

ACTAA offers professional development to educators in the areas of, but are not limited to, instructional strategies, lesson plan sharing, building and maintaining a collaborative learning environment, parental involvement, principles of learning, college forums, debate forums, competitive speech forums, curriculum alignment, mentoring/coaching, advocacy and leadership in communication, theatre arts and humanities, and cognitive research.
